Child Not Practicing Piano

Is your child not practicing piano? Your child wants to learn music because it’s fun and that’s great thing for you. From a parent’s perspective, you’re giving her an education. Study after study has proven that kids who study music do better in all subjects at school. This is because music is the only discipline that requires the both hemispheres of the brain to fire at the same time. This creates connections in the brain that no other discipline can. In fact, there was just another study using MRI’s showing that playing music uses more regions of the brain than any other activity.

Most kids don’t practice without a parent overseeing a practice routine. Students who are successful playing music have parents that have made it happen. Patience and discipline are not qualities that we are born with. They are skills we develop and there is no better way to develop these skills than to study music. If you sit with her and practice 5-10 mins a day, 5 days a week, within 3 weeks it will start becoming easy for her and she will have developed a new routine and habit. She will start having fun with it because she will make progress and have success. The best way to do it is to find a time you can practice together at the same time everyday and make it a routine. Sit in the on the lessons so you know exactly what she needs to do. You could even learn along with her making this a great bonding time. Make it fun for both of you and you’ll be giving her a great gift.
